Kutna Hora
The earliest record of silver mining in Kutna Hora dates back to the 13th century. At that time the "silver rush" began and the settlement of Kutna Hora grew rapidly.
The first written reference to the town is from 1289. Originally, a group of scattered miner's settlements, the site became one of the most important cities in the region after King Wenceslas II regulated the mining industry by creating an official code of laws pertaining to all aspects of mining.
In the 1305, the Czech Mint was located in Kutna Hora. Today, this UNESCO listed city, preserves the atmosphere of its rich past with, historic buildings, narrow streets and many reconstruction and restoration projects. Popular sites include The Silver Mine Museum, St. Barbara's Cathedral, and The Stone Fountain in the historic town square.
